Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday held extensive conversation with Argentina President Xavier Milli, focusing on deepening bilateral cooperation in important areas such as trade, investment, energy, agriculture and important minerals.
Modi reached Buenos Aires on Friday as part of the third phase of his visit to his five countries. The discussion with Milli is to strengthen the strategic partnership between India and Argentina, which was formally given to the then President Maurisio Makari during his visit to India in February 2019.

Earlier in the day, PM Modi paid tribute to San Martin Memorial at Buenos Aires. Monumento al General San Martin is a similar statue dedicated to the revered Liberator Jose de San Martin of Argentina, Chile and Peru.
India and Argentina have maintained strong cooperation in areas including defense, oil and gas, nuclear power, culture and technology. A major region of focus is mineral resources, especially lithium, which is important for India’s green energy infection.
The two countries signed an MoU on mineral resource cooperation in August 2022, and held the first meeting of the Joint Working Group in January.
Bilateral trade between the two countries has doubled between 2019 and 2022 and has reached the peak of $ 6.4 billion. In 2021 and 2022, India was the fourth largest trading partner in Argentina.
In 2024, the total annual bilateral trade was $ 5.23 billion, making India Argentina’s fifth largest trading partner and export destination.
