In a separate query, Mea was also asked whether the ministry had tried to “separate” Pakistan on the world stage.
As part of the regular annual process of the United Nations Security Council, chairs and sub-chairs of its auxiliary bodies and committees are chosen from its permanent and elected non-established members. In addition to Russia and France, Pakistan has been elected as one of the sub-workers of the United Nations Counter Terrorism Committee for 2025, Singh said.
It may be noted that India was the chairman of the United Nations Counter Terrorism Committee in 2022. Similarly, India was also the chairman of the same committee during its tenure of 2011-12, MOS said.
He said, “The Government of India is sensitizing all the concerned negotiaters on the threat of cross -border terrorism emanating from Pakistan. Due to India’s frequent efforts, the global community has more understanding of India’s concerns over across the border terrorism,” he said.

India’s efforts over the years have listed several Pakistan-based terrorists and terrorist organizations under the UNSC 1267 Ban Committee and FATF (Financial Action Task Force) “Gray Listing”.
He said that after the Pahalgam attack, the UNSC press statement also “strongly condemned” the terrorist attack and accepted the need to justify criminals, organizers, sponsors and financers of the attack, he said.
Many world leaders have recognized and supported India’s works to counter terrorism after the Pahalgam attack. Recently, the US has nominated a proxy resistance Front (TRF), a foreign terrorist organization and a specially nominated global terrorist, a Pakistan-based terrorist group Lashkar-e-Tiba.
