The House Committee investigating alleged irregularities in the implementation of schemes under the Water Life Mission in Jammu and Kashmir is seeking help from the general public – an unexpected quarter.
In a public notice on 4 July, the committee-march established to investigate the allegations-“Whistleblowers/ stakeholders/ general public” sought information from them to bring them to the notice of the House Committee, “their related complaints, if any, if any, any kind of tap connection, subsidies of materis, related/ nuclear practices, water life missions”.
Urging the general public for volunteer information, Tanveer Sadiq, the chief spokesperson of the ruling National Conference, said on Monday that the House Committee on JJM was formed after “comprehensive concern and unanimous demand from MLAs”, which is more than “serious irregularity” in the implementation of the Jal Sahati scheme.
“Now, the committee has officially invited the general public, whistleblower and stakeholders to come forward with any information or complaint. It is an important opportunity for all of us to get to the bottom of these issues,” he said.
He emphasized that in terms of ensuring transparency and accountability, “if someone knows about the wrongdoing details in the plan, they should speak.
