Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said on Wednesday that the murder of Raja Raghuvanshi, a resident of Indore during his honeymoon in Meghalaya, is a “terrible incident”, which people should think that “children should be allowed to go so far”.
CM Yadav said, “Sonam Raghuvanshi-Raja Raghuvanshi incident is a lesson for society as well as a very painful event. When two families come together through marriage, things need to be taken care of a lot. Children need to think about going so far. I am hurt by this incident …”
State Cabinet Minister Kailash Vijayvargia said, “It is a good thing to educate his children, but they should also be taught culture. Children who do not have culture become Sonam. Our reputation of our Indore is stained by that daughter. Whenever I ask me about this incident. I think I feel ashamed to talk about it.”
Indore Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava said that he regrets that strong local reactions about the murder of King Raghuvanshi in Meghalaya have negatively influenced the image of the northeastern state or its tourism.
The Congress party hit back on the statements of BJP leaders, calling it an example of conservative thinking. Party spokesperson Mukesh Nayak said, “This is a conservative thinking of BJP leaders; it is not right to make such statements. Instead they should focus on improving the safety of women in this state.”
