Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is currently as part of his five-nation diplomatic tour in Trinidad and Tobago, stated the Indian community visit on Thursday, saying “Pravasi is proud”.
Addressing a community program at the National Cycling Velodrome at COUVA, the Prime Minister said: “The Indian community’s journey in Trinidad and Tobago is about courage. The circumstances that your ancestors faced could have also broken the strongest of souls.
The Prime Minister said that “we are part of a family”, he found it completely natural.
Trinidad and Tobago have a population of about 1.3 million, out of which 45 percent are of Indian origin.

Modi said that between the past and the present, the friendship between the two countries has “become even stronger”. The PM said, “Our bonds are beyond geography and generations.”
Saying his counterpart, Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bisasar, ‘Daughter of Bihar’, he said, “Trinidad and Tobago Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bisser’s ancestor monkey lived in Bihar, Bihar. Kamla ji asked himself to go there. The world.”

In a post on social media platform X, PM said, “The community program in Port of Spain was fantastic. People’s energy and heat made it really unforgettable. Obviously, our cultural bonds shine brightly!”

During his address, PM Modi also said that members of the Indian community there have contributed to “cultural, economic and spiritually” in Trinidad and Tobago.
PM Persade-Bisasar, who also addressed the community before Modi, said that the Indian leader will be honored with the ‘The Order of Trinidad and Tobago’ of the highest honor of the Caribbean Nation on Friday.
