Prime Minister Narendra Modi was given the country’s highest civilian honor on Friday with the order of ‘Trinidad and Tobago Republic’.
Modi, who is on a two -day visit to the Caribbean Island nation in the second phase of his five -country tour, was awarded his global leadership, his deep engagement with Indian migrants and his humanitarian efforts during the Kovid -19 Pandemic.
Modi said, “Tinidad and Tobago should be honored with the orders of the Republic. I accept it from 140 million Indians.”
The award was announced on Thursday by Trinidad and Tobago Prime Minister Kamala Persad-Bisasar, who described Modi’s visit as a moment of shared pride and historical relationship.
This is Modi’s first visit to the country as Prime Minister and Trinidad and Tobago since 1999 is the first Indian bilateral visit at the Prime Minister level.
Modi arrived from Ghana, where he was Honored with ‘Adhikar of Ghana’s Star Order’National honor of the country.
A statement in a statement said that the award was given to the Prime Minister for the recognition of his “prestigious states and influential global leadership”.
