Prime Minister Narendra Modi was honored with the ‘officer of Ghana’s order’ for the national honor of the country for his “prestigious states and influential global leadership”.
Modi received the award from Ghana President John Droni Mahama on Wednesday.

In his acceptance speech, Modi said that the award was a matter of great pride and respect for him.
“I politely accept the award for 140 million Indians,” he said, “dedicated it to the aspirations of the youth of both countries and bright future, dedicated historical relations between Ghana and India and their rich cultural traditions and diversity.
He said in an X post, “This honor is also a responsibility; Bharat-Ghana working towards friendship. India will always stand with the people of Ghana and will continue to contribute as a reliable friend and development partner.”
A press release stated that the award was given to the Prime Minister for the recognition of his “reputed states and influential global leadership”.

Thanking the people of Ghana and the government for special gestures, the Prime Minister said that “the shared democratic values and traditions of the two countries will continue to nurture the partnership”.
He said that the award “deepens friendship between the two countries and has a new responsibility on them to embrace and pursue bilateral relations.” Modi emphasized his belief that according to his “historic” state journey Mea in Ghana, India-Ghana would provide a new momentum for relations.
