Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday departed on a week -long diplomatic visit in five countries including Brazil, where he is ready to attend the BRICS summit. In his statement of his departure, PM Modi claimed India’s commitment to BRICS as an important platform for cooperation among emerging economies.
The Prime Minister said, “Together, we try for a more peaceful, justified, democratic and balanced multipolar world system.”
During his diplomatic visit, PM Modi will visit five countries – Ghana, Trinidad and Tobago, Argentina, Brazil and Namibia. After receiving the invitation from President John Droni Mahama, he is set to start his two -day visit to Ghana on 2 July.
Ghana is a valuable partner in the global South and plays an important role in the Economic Community of the African Union and the West African states, PM Modi said, he is ready to interact with the purpose of opening new windows of cooperation, including further deepening the historical relations between the two countries and the investment, energy, health, security, capacity building and development partnership.
After Ghana, Modi will leave for Trinidad and Tobago, where he will meet President Christine Carla Kangalu, who was the chief guest in this year’s in-charge Divas, and Prime Minister Kamla Pard-Bishasar, who has recently held the position for the second term.
He will then visit Buenos Aires, in the first bilateral visit by an Indian Prime Minister in Argentina in 57 years. PM Modi will attend the BRICS summit at Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on 6 and 7 July, his second-final stop for an eight-day visit.
As a founding member, India is committed as an important platform for cooperation among the emerging economies for BRICS, Modi said. “Together, we try for a more peaceful, justified, proper, democratic and balanced multi -polar world system,” he said.

Namibia, which Modi described as a reliable partner, would be his final destination, sharing a general history of struggle against colonialism. His department’s statement said that he would meet President Netbo Nandi-Naditwah and will chart a new roadmap for cooperation for two people, areas and wide global South benefits.
