PM Modi to Rera Heads at Pragati Meeting: All projects should be registered, Act on Buyers' complaints | Bharat News

Asked the state governments to ensure compulsory registration of all qualified real estate projects under the Real Estate Regulatory Officers Act, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asked all the Chief Secretaries for monthly surveillance activities of RERA in their respective states so that the complaints of homebuilders are resolved on time, Indian Express has learned.

The Prime Minister’s instruction came during a meeting of a Pragati (active-active governance and timely implementation) organized through a video conference on Wednesday.

During the meeting, the PM also highlighted that Uttar Pradesh holds only 2.5 percent share in Uttar Pradesh in proportion to the projects registered in the country, while its share is about 18 percent of the complaints. He asked the state officials to ensure that more and more real estate projects are registered under RERA.

In a statement, the Prime Minister’s office said: “During the review of public grievances related to the Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA), the PM asked the state governments to ensure judicial officials to ensure justice and fairness for homebuilders. The homes were scattered.”

Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh, who attended the Pragati meeting, issued some directions to the development officers in his state. He has asked all local development officers to review the status of 10 oldest real estate projects in their jurisdiction within three days, which have not been distributed to date. Singh has also convened a meeting on 3 June with representatives of the Confederation of the National Real Estate Development Council (NardECO) and the Real Estate Developers Association of India (Crintai).

During the meeting, the PM reviewed the three major infrastructure projects with a cumulative cost of over Rs 62,000 crore spread over road transport, power and water resources located in various states and UTS.

The statement said, “Emphasizing the strategic importance of these projects, he called for concerted efforts to remove the obstacles of implementation and complete their time.”

“Highlighting the adverse effects of the delay in the project, the PM reiterated that such failures not only increase costs, but also deprive citizens with essential services and infrastructure. They urged all stakeholders to prefer efficiency and accountability, saying that timely distribution is important to maximize socio-economic consequences.”
