Staff, Battery-operated portable vacuum cleaner and backpack-type high pressure jet cleaning machines equal-and a new time limit of 10 minutes. The Railways has re -prepared its clean train station (CTS) scheme to improve the cleaning process of trains with minimal disruption in operation.

The CTS was launched by the Railway Ministry in October 2002 to meet the demand for cleaner train coaches and toilets. It cleanses a mechanized N route of trains during the stop at stations known on the major trunk routes.

Its revised version to be applied to 20 designated places for 683 trains, four toilets (among the two surrounding coaches) will be seen (among the two surrounding coaches). Employees will also collect garbage from dustbin and carry forward dry moping in areas including mechanized jet cleaning and toilet floors.

The cleaner will be provided with a self-contained water tank of the appropriate capacity (10–15 liters) with portable backpack-type, battery powered, self-contained high pressure jet cleaning machines; Battery-powered portable vacuum cleaner, ergonomic brush suitable for wash basin, exploitative MOP to wipe the floor, etc.

According to a letter from a ministry on June 12, 2025, all the zonal railway general managers, “to increase the efficiency of the cleaning staff for hand -free operation while cleaning, the external apron and trousers must be suitable with sufficient number of pockets for shapes, brushes and chemical bottles.”

The letter said, “The entire process needs to be completed within 10 minutes, which includes the passengers’ bybirding/ onboarding and all cleaning activities,” the letter said that water filling/ top-up in coaches should also be ensured within a single period at these proposed CTS locations.

Ministry officials said that after a pilot study conducted by Northern Railway, it was decided to rebuild the CTS. He said that the Railway Board, which took the top decisions of the Railway Ministry, reviewed various aspects of the scheme, such as redefining the workstation, re -functioning on time -taking processes, improving equipment and equipment, refining workflows, etc.
