The visit to Kerala by YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra, which was arrested by the Haryana Police on May 16 for spying for Pakistan, on the invitation of the state government, spiral in a political line, demanding the resignation of Kerala Tourism Minister.

On Sunday, Tourism Minister Pa Mohammad Rias told the media that Vlogers like Jyoti were brought to Kerala with good intentions. Rias said, “No government will deliberately bring a detective to the state.”

Senior BJP leader K Surendran also said in the ruling government: “Pak-Sakpi Jyoti Malhotra’s Kannur Yatra was sponsored by Kerala Tourism, which was run by someone other than Pinarayi Vijayan’s son-in-law. Why Kerala is rolling a red carpet for a Pak-Ling detective.”

Traveling with Jyoti’s channel, which, was a large -scale one on YouTube and Instagram, capturing her trips at various places. The Kerala Trip Video was posted in January this year.

He was invited to Kerala by the tourism department, which used to meet his expenses during Kerala Sozorn. This was part of the tourism promotion activities of the department outside the state.

It was Jyoti’s two trips to Pakistan – first in April 2024, when he took a train from Vagah to Lahore, and in March this year, a month before the Pahgam terror attack – which brought him under an official investigation, and he was arrested. According to police, he allegedly told them that it was in 2023 during a visit to the Pakistan High Commission in Delhi for a travel visa, to meet Ahsan-ur-Rahim alias Danish, who was now a nuisance officer in the commission. Danish was declared a personality as a non-grade and was thrown out of India on 13 May, when he was accused of spying.

The Hisar Police has alleged that it was found sharing “sensitive information” with an officer of Pakistan High Commission in Delhi.
