The Supreme Court has registered a SUO MOTU case on investigative agencies, which calls lawyers calling lawyers, who give legal advice in cases or represent parties.
CJI Br Gavai, Justice K Vinod Chandran and NV Anjaria will hear the matter on 14 July.
It comes on heels to issue ED to senior advocates Arvind Datar and Pratap Venugopal, which was later withdrawn. Ed Saman criticized.
On 25 June, a top court bench, which included Justices KV Vishwanathan and NK Singh, mentioned the question of the investigative agencies, who were calling lawyers to CJI for further action.
The bench had stated that “legal profession is an integral component of the process of administration of justice. Counsels engaged in their legal practice have some rights and privileges that guarantee the fact that they are legal professionals, and also due to statutory provisions. Justice”.
“Whatever is at stake is the efficacy of the administration of justice and the ability of lawyers of the lawyers, and more importantly, fearlessly discharges its professional duties. Since it is a case directly on the administration of justice, which is subject to a professional of the investigation agency/prosecution agency/police.
