In Thubal Town in Manipur, 21 -year -old Nagnathoi Sharma Kongbrayatpam’s family drowned in mourning as there were reports of Air India plane accident. She was part of the cabin crew on duty on flight.
She had called her elder sister to tell her around 11:30 am that she would be flying to London that day. “She said she would not be able to call for the next few days and after returning on June 15, she would come in contact. It was a final call for us,” her father, Nandesh Kumar Sharma said.
About three hours later, his elder daughter called him in a panic after seeing the news reports on her phone that the flight crashed.
“We knew that she was going to be inside the aircraft. But we have not received any information from Air India or any representative. We all know that it is from news and Facebook,” he said.
Among the three daughters, Nagnathoi in 2023, when she was a teenager, her first job joined Air India.

“She took her first semester exam at DM College in Imphal. Some of her friends were training to become an aerial hostess. When they went for an interview, she called her. She went and was being selected. She was very young, but I was happy that she had got a job in a good company. I felt that she could do some stable work when she was older.
Her job would continue to move her continuously, and she lived with a group of other young women from Manipur in Mumbai who works in Air India.

Her father said that the last time she went home, she was in March this year. She went to meet him as a surprise around that time that she was undergoing medical treatment in a hospital.
“She stayed for a few days. She always met us in this way. When she surprised her after a few days after work, she would surprise us. She planned to travel with her elder sister and called us when she reached the front gate. She saw all of us very well,” she said.
