WhatsApp message was simple, but only family can tell: “Happy Journey Harpreet beta.” On Thursday morning, the words, the last blessings sent to the WhatsApp group of a family will become Harpreet Kaur Hora (30), before he stepped on a sick Air India flight.
But this was not always a plan. Harpreet originally booked her ticket for June 19, a regular journey to see her four -year -old husband Robbie, who works as a software engineer in London. But since her birthday fell on 16 June, she could not think of remembering her.
And so, she decided to revive her flight for June 12, so she could reach there for her special day. When Boeing 787 Dreamliner picked up from Sardar Vallabhbhai International Airport on Thursday afternoon, Harpreet was seated in 22E. After minutes, the aircraft crashed in the Meghaninagar area of Ahmedabad.
In another cruel turn of fate, Harpreet traveled to his maternal home in Ahmedabad in Bangalore with his IT job, where her father was recovering from heart surgery. Her family said she chose to fly from Ahmedabad instead of Bangalore as she wanted to spend time with her.
Her father -in -law, Harjit Singh Hora told The Indian Express, “She planned to celebrate my son’s birthday on 16 June. She often came to meet her, but this time, the unfortunate incident happened, and she left forever.”

The WhatsApp group of the family who were echoing with best wishes, except for destructive news, had shut down. Rajendra Singh Hora, his uncle, said, “The whole family is shattered. This accident has shaken all of us.”
Despite being on various continents, the couple worked with regular video calls, carefully planned trips and shared confidence that their separation was temporary. They got married in 2020, their Sangh blessed with Asha, but tested with career demands that pulled her in different directions.
