Shubanshu Shukla, the first Indian astronaut to reach the International Space Station (ISS), spoke to the Indian students during his first Ham radio conversation on the ship at the space laboratory on Friday. He said, “The most difficult task is to go to sleep, because enthusiasm wants to use more and more …” he said.
“I am doing a lot of experiments and these are challenging and exciting. All these experiments have been planned by ISRO-NASA. But there are some that I like especially, especially on the stem cell. One. He acted. They also showed the students their sleeping bag.
Shukla lived on Ham Radio for less than ten minutes when ISS was passing close to the horizon around 3.47 pm on Friday, 4 July.
The Ham Radio Communication was performed with a ground station in Greenbelt, Maryland, US, via the Ur Rao Satellite Center in Bangalore. Shukla was given a set of selected questions prepared by students from all over India, which was shortlisted under three categories. Around 145 students joined Live from Thiruvananthapuram and a similar number of associated with Lucknow and Bengaluru.
Since the ISS revolves around the Earth at an average speed of more than 27,000 km/h, which is making 16 classes/day, the best possible bandwidth for the installation of Ham Radio communication usually lasts for only five to eight minutes.
Shukla’s voice was filled with enthusiasm as he raised the questions and gave each quick, small answers to each with ‘over’ – pointing to the next question, he was moving forward to move forward. Shukla talked about the dragon ride of the crew of SpaceX on 25 June, in one and a half days of “floating” in space until the tiny capsules, quick speed and docking in the ISS, and how their body faced difficulties in adopting new conditions in space.
The AXIOM-4 mission has been led by NASA in partnership with ISRO and European Space Agency. On the role of this international cooperation, Shukla said: “I think international cooperation is important for the success of a mission for ISS and space. Even for our mission, Axiom-4, ISRO, NASA and ESA … Everyone has come together to make this mission. I have realized the power of global cooperation.

Indian food also touched “New Heights” along with Shukla’s X -4. He is carrying three dishes with him – Amarus, Moong Dal Halwa, And Carrot pudding,
“These foods were prepared by ISRO in collaboration with the Defense Research and Development Organization (ISRO). I shared these foods with everyone and they loved and appreciated it.”
Earth’s view from space, Shukla said, was the most beautiful on the ship on ISS.
“The most exciting part about being in space is looking back to Earth from the convenience point. It is big, very beautiful and reminded me how lucky we are on this planet. It also realizes how important this planet is with everything this planet is with us.”
