Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday wrote to Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Nayajrapu, requesting his intervention to resume Air India flight from Goa to Gatwick, London.
Sawant said that the flight was suspended after the Air India plane accident in Ahmedabad last month. On June 12, the accident killed everyone, but one of the 241 passengers and 19 people were on the ground.
In an email to the Union Minister on Wednesday, Sawant said: “It is discovered that the operation of the Goa-Gatvic non-stop flight operated by Air India was suspended in June 2025 after the Ahmedabad plane crash. The possibility of restarting was likely to begin with impact from July 15”.
Sawant said that the suspension of flight services has created a lot of inconvenience to Goan traveling from London. He said, “Many people travel on this route for employment purposes. I request you to complete the issue with Air India and facilitate the initial operation of this flight,” he said.
Calangut MLA Michael Lobo initially raised the issue in the State Legislative Assembly on Monday, which expressed concern over the suspension of the flight. Lobo said the flight was used by Goans, who were studying and working abroad, and demanded the Chief Minister’s intervention. Sawant said that he would consult the Union Civil Aviation Ministry on this issue.

On Wednesday, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Venzi Viegas gave an order at home and sought an update on the matter. In response, Sawant informed the house that he would write to the ministry via email on Wednesday.
