State NITI Aayog Report suggests major push for Chhattisgarh's service sector

CM Sai said, “The state GDP is now Rs 5 lakh crore … By 2047, we will take the state GDP up to Rs 75 lakh crore.”

Subramaniam, who spoke at the event, said, “Social equity and human capital development are at the forefront of the initiative with the aim of increasing education, healthcare and skill development to empower our citizens.”

The industrial area contributes about 45% of the state GDP of Chhattisgarh. The service sector contributes 35% and 20% to agricultural accounts. An excerpt of the report states, “The service sector is expected to expand rapidly, inspired by an increase in information technology, logistics and tourism.”

According to the report, Chhattisgarh is currently ranked 19th among the states with domestic tourist footfall and is in the 28th international tourism footfall. The report proposes to give benefits to other people to the tourism industry to push the low property tax rates, electricity, water and subsidy rates for parcels and its development.

The state will work on promoting various types of tourism, such as eco, cultural, welfare, religious, heritage, and adventures, as well as meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (mice) tourism, where modern places will be introduced at places surrounded by natural beauty. In the report under each category of tourism, many tourist places are listed, which can be developed.

For connectivity, the report recommended converting Chhattisgarh capital, Raipur into an international airport with direct flights to the United States, Bangladesh and United Kingdom.

The report also said for the expansion and upgradation of roads, enhances connectivity for 10 districts, which currently have no direct railway connections, developing a series of support services, local packaging hubs, 24/7 logistics operations, developing multi-model logistics parks, special terminals and cold chain infrastructure.

The proposals of reports to establish and expand and expand low cost land for IT and IT-competent companies are also in proposals. The state also had suggestions to create a hub for Hindi BPO and Artificial Intelligence Startups.
