A four -year -old girl from a family of migrant laborers was found dead on Saturday morning, after about 17 hours, a leopard dragged her into the One Tea Tea Estate of the Anamalai Tiger Reserve (ATR), in which the authorities described her as a rare and tragic incident near Valapai in Western Tamil Nadu. The child, M Rosini Kumari, had reached the Pachmalai estate area with her parents a week ago.

His father, Manoj Munda, and mother, Monica Devi, were newly planned tea estate activists in the mountainous region. On Friday evening, at 6.30 pm, Roshini was standing near her mother, who was bringing water near her line house, when a leopard came out of tea bushes and punched. The child was dragged into the mother’s full scene.

“The family raised an alarm, and local workers alerted the nearest forest office. There was an intensive discovery operation throughout the night, spreading about two square kilometers, including 40 forest personnel, a snifler dog named Bairava, drone monitoring, and helped from local fire and police departments.

By 11.30 am on Saturday, Roshini’s partially eaten body was discovered 700 meters from her house in a Nilgiri grove. The remains were taken to the hospital’s hospital for post -mortem.

Officials said that the department is preparing to set up 20 camera nets to monitor animal movements in the area till Saturday evening. Roshini’s family will receive Rs 50,000 as immediate compensation, with an additional Rs 9.5 lakhs, it is expected to be distributed on Sunday under Tamil Nadu’s Human-Walled Conflict Relief Provisions.

Official sources said no bloodshed on the site was initially found due to light drizzle at the time of the attack, making the tracking complicated. A local estate worker claimed that the leopard was seen dragging the child, but the presence of dense territories and other wildlife made the operation particularly challenging.

The property has many migrant laborers and their families. Many have recently shifted to Valpai for seasonal work. The official said that he has started an awareness campaign and urged families not to allow young children out, especially during the morning and evening hours.
