The five arrested after the video showed them India news using sticks to attack each other in Kedarnath

Five people were arrested by the Rudraprayag police following a video of a dispute at Sitapur parking site near Kedarnath.

Officials said an FIR has been lodged under 190 (illegal assembly), 191 (1) (riot), naming all the five after the incident on Thursday morning, naming all the five, the officials said.

In a statement, the police said, “A video of a violent change went viral on social media today, in which many persons can be seen entangled in a stick battle and can be seen attacking each other. Taking cognizance of the video, Sonprayag police visited the scene of the incident, Sitapur parking, and it was found that the incident is around 11M.

The police further interrogated the parking contractor and others on the spot, and on the basis of interrogation, an FIR was lodged at Sonprayag police station. A total of five persons nominated in the FIR have been arrested and produced before the court. The accused are identified as Deepak Chandra, 23, Laxman Singh, 32, Rajendra Kohli, 33, Sudarshan Chandra, 28, and Durgesh, 21, as all residents of all residents.

Superintendent of Police, Rudraprayag, Akshay Prahlad Konde said that the parking contractor has also been held accountable to fail to control his employees properly. He said, “Strict possible action will be taken in such cases. Such behavior towards pilgrims visiting Char Dham Yatra is completely unacceptable under any circumstances,” he said.

So far, more than 11 lakh pilgrims have visited Kedarnath, the highest among the four temples in the Char Dham Circuit.
