In Kerala, police have arrested a young live-in couple for allegedly killing two newborns between 2021 and 2024.
Bavish (25) and Anisha (23) were arrested on Sunday when Bawish was drunk and went to Pudukad police station in Thrissur, claiming to be included with a bag with a bag with newborns.
He said, “He handed over the bag to the police, saying that these were bones of infants. He claimed that the bones were placed to perform rituals so that the souls of the children get salvation. Doubting something serious behind their words under the influence of alcohol, the police verified their claims.
According to the police, the accused couple became friends through social media in 2020, when Bawish was 20 and Anisha was 18 years old. They had planned to get married, but the plans did not become physical.
Police claimed that the first child was born in November 2021 and the woman allegedly killed her. The body was then buried near his house. Eight months later, he dug the pit and handed over some bones, the police said. The second child was born in August 2024, and the body was allegedly buried in the same manner, but in a different place.
The SP said that the forensic surgeon has examined the bones and Prima Facial has verified them as newborns. “However, a detailed examination will be held as part of the investigation,” he said.
The police also said that they had a stressful relationship with Anisha, a laboratory technician for the disclosure of the killings. Bavish allegedly suspected that Anisha was concerned, and this caused frequent quarrels between the two in recent months. Police said she feared that she is planning to marry someone else, and went to the police station with a skeleton, allegedly residuals to take revenge.
