On Sunday morning, at least three people were killed and more than 50 others were injured in an incident like Gundicha temple in Puri, Odisha. Hundreds of thousands of devotees have gathered in Puri for annual. Rath Yatra Festival.
The incident occurred at around 4-4:20 pm when the vehicle carrying rituals allegedly entered the crowd. Eyewitnesses alleged that no adequate police system or officials were placed on the site to manage the inflammation number of pilgrims.
Hospital officials said some injured were discharged after receiving first aid, while others were hospitalized with serious injuries.
Officials confirmed that women were among the dead, but said that the identity of the victims was still being verified.
Odisha Law Minister Prithvirraj Harichandan said that he had informed Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi about the incident. “An investigation will soon be initiated in the case, and strict action will be taken against those responsible people,” said Harichandan.
As part of the annual Rath Yatra, the chariots of three major deities arrived in Saradbali on Saturday. The formal procession for the Gundcha temple is scheduled for Sunday evening.
