Congress chief Mallikrajun Kharge said on Monday that the Election Commission (EC) needs to answer the “serious and legitimate” questions raised by the Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi in 2024 Maharashtra Poll.
“This lack of transparency from a constitutional body is mandatory to ensure independent and fair elections. The Congress party is committed to maintaining democratic values and electoral integrity, supports the important questions raised by Mr. Rahul Gandhi and reiterates them publicly” Kharge said. X.
Article written by opposition Shri @Rahul GandhiPublished in many national and regional newspapers, raises serious and valid questions about the transparency and integrity of the electoral process, especially in the reference to the recently concluded 2024 … pic.twitter.com/vb3aquhyzn

Questions raised by the Congress – The number of voters added to the electoral rolls allegedly “unexplained” bounce to the appointment of Election Commissioner, an alleged discrepancy in voting – still remained, Kharge said. The BJP had accused Rahul of “pedaling lies” to destroy the trust about the conduct of elections, claiming that it was making an excuse for his party’s adjacent defeat in the upcoming elections including Bihar.
In his post, Kharge demanded to underline that in 2019 and 2024, “only 31 lakh new voters were added to Maharashtra”, yet 41 lakh new voters “appeared on the role in just 5 months between the Lok Sabha and Maharashtra assembly elections of 2024”.
Kharge demanded 5PM 5PM CCTV footage or videography to justify 7% jump between a provisional polling of 58.73% and the final polling of 66%.
Accusing the weakening of the appointment of Election Commissioner, Kharge said that the government amended the process by replacing the Chief Justice of India along with the Union Home Minister on the appointment panel, asking why the judiciary was removed from a process to ensure freedom.

Asked why the EC was catching on important public data, he demanded why the final, updated electoral roles for 2024 LS and 2024 Maharashtra elections have not been published.
“If ECI has nothing to hide, it has to be released … 2024 Lok Sabha elections and 2024 with the Timestamps of Integrated, Digital, and Machine-Elective Voter Rolls, Full Edition’s History and Updates for Maharashtra assembly elections … All posts and evenings during the money,” transparency is not a constituent during the money, “transparency is not a constant Is”.

While the Election Commission did not release a statement in response to Gandhi and Kharge’s allegations, an EC official said on Monday that issues raised in response to the EC of the Congress on December 24, 2024 were addressed, which was in response to the November 29 Congress letter on the increase in elections.
