Tripura announced a mega recruitment drive to fill more than 1,600 posts before Durga Puja

Two months before Durga Puja, the Tripura government on Tuesday announced a recruitment drive to fill more than 1,600 posts in various departments including education and health.

Speaking to reporters at the State Secretariat in Aarartala, Tourism Minister Sushant Chaudhary said that the cabinet pledged to recruit 700 graduates and 915 postgraduate teachers. “These decisions were adopted during a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Manik Saha. We all know that there is a shortage of postgraduate teachers in schools and that is why the Education Department has decided to recruit postgraduate teachers for these schools. The recruitment board of teachers will conduct the recruitment of Tripura.”

Saha later wrote on X, “The State Cabinet approved the recruitment of 700 graduate teachers (GT) to strengthen our education system and ensure quality education for all. We are committed to providing employment opportunities and march for the best Tripura.”

The recruitment drive is expected to address the shortage of a teacher that the opposition CPM has blamed the posts of 10,323 teachers on faulty recruitment made during the pre -left front rule.

The cabinet decided to fill 37 posts including Professor, Associate Professor, Assistant Professor, Deputy Registrar, Assistant Registrar at National Law University. Six posts of dental officers will be filled under the Health Department.

“The recruitment process to fill 37 posts will be done by the National Law University as per their recruitment rules. Medical officers will be recruited through Tripura Public Service Commission,” said Chaudhary.
