Tripura Agriculture Minister Ratan Lal Nath on Friday announced a Rs 132 crore project to promote farmers’ income by promoting the cultivation of Queen Pineapple.
Addressing media individuals at the 5th CII Tripura Pineapple Festival held in Aarartala, Nath said, “We are cultivating more than 58,491 hectares of different fruits, and pineapple alone is grown in 11,000 hectares. Humidity climate with minimal chemical intervention.
“Queen Pineapple has obtained a GI (geographical signal) tag. This recognition highlights the unique quality and uniqueness of the queen diversity grown in the state … This initiative has strengthened the branding and export capacity of Tripura’s pineapple. It has also been declared as the kingdom of Tripura in 2018,” said the minister.
