The White House said on Monday that US President Donald Trump is currently finalizing the agreement with the trade team in the oval office, the trade deal with India can be declared “very soon”,
In a press briefing, White House Press Secretary Karolin Lewitt said that the US and India are very close to a trade deal, and the terms of the deal are currently being finalized. He also said that relations between the two countries are strong, and there is a strong personal relationship between Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Answering a question by news agency Annie during a press briefing, Levit said, “Yes, the President said that the President said last week (that the US and India are very close to a business deal), and this is true. I just spoke to our secretary about it. He was in an oval office with the President.

Earlier, Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said on June 10 that India and the US are negotiating on a fair and justified trade agreement that will benefit both economies.
Describing India and America as a “very close friend”, Goyal said during a press briefing, “PM Narendra Modi and US President Trump met in February 2025 … Our two leaders have decided to enter a bilateral trade agreement, which will be transitically beneficial for both sides, businesses of both countries.
During a press briefing last month, Donald Trump said that a “major” trade deal with India is in the tasks, as the conversation between the two countries remains in work.
