'We are also trying to move forward': Supreme Court in the government on delay in judicial appointments. Bharat News

India’s Chief Justice Bra Gavai said that on Thursday, the Supreme Court is following the question of pending appointments of the appointments of the High Court judges along with the Center in its administrative side.

CJI Gawai said it was mentioned as a plea to direct the recommendations by the Supreme Court Collegium to direct the Central Government to direct the Central Government as a pending argument, including Justice Vinod Chandran before a back.

“We are also trying to move forward on the administrative side. A lot of names have been approved,” said CJI Gavai.

After appearing for the petitioner, senior advocate Arvind Datar and Advocate Prashant Bhushan said that when the petition was listed last time, on December 5, 2023, before a bench headed by Justice Scaul. However, the reason was removed from the list, he said.

Datar said that some pending names were recommended in 2019, and was repeated in 2021 and 2022.

He said that he was also losing on seniority due to pendency, saying that two lawyers, one from Mumbai and the other from Delhi, withdrew their consent for their height as judges.

CJI Gawai said that he is aware of the issue, and referred to one of them, a woman is a Delhi advocate who has withdrawn the consent. “The woman from Delhi … she was extraordinary,” said CJI.

Bhushan said that she was a topper at National Law School. The court said it would list the case for a hearing.
