In a meeting of the first Quad Foreign Ministers after Operation Sindoor in May, Foreign Minister K. Jaishankar said on Tuesday that India hopes to understand and appreciate its quad partner that the country has every right to protect its people against terrorism, and it will practice correctly.
“A word about terrorism in light of our recent experience – the world should show zero tolerance. The victims and criminals should never be equal. And India has every right to protect their people against terrorism, and we will exercise that right. We will expect from our quad partners.

On 22 April, 26 people were killed in a terrorist attack in Pahgam. On 7 May, India launched Operation Sindoor with a terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan -occupied Kashmir, followed by a four -day military confrontation between India and Pakistan.
Zishankar later described the quad meeting as “very productive” and said “he discussed how to make the quad more concentrated and impressive on contemporary opportunities and challenges”.
“Today’s gathering will strengthen strategic stability in Indo Pacific and keep it free and open,” he said. “We are all committed to ensuring an independent and open Indo Pacific. By that end, our efforts are dedicated to promoting a rule-based international order. It is necessary that the nations of Indo Pacific have freedom of choice, so it is necessary to take the right decision on development and security,” he said.
Jaishankar said that in the last few months, “We have made significant progress in quad initiative” including “we have” maritime domains, logistics, education and political coordination “. He said that quad” is about deepening our convergence and expanding our general base “.
He said that by streamlining the work groups, the work of the quad is being made more efficient, and a more harmonious, agile and concentrated quad would help give better, he said. He said that India plans to host the next Quad Summit.
This is a meeting of Jaishankar’s second quad foreign ministers this year – first on 21 January, a day after the inauguration at US President Donald Trump’s Washington DC.

US State Secretary Marco Rubio said that quad is a “very important partnership that has developed over the years and has actually taken wing in the last few months”. Jaishankar also met separate Eva and Rubio for bilateral meetings.
Earlier in the day, Jaishankar called the Pahalgam attack “a function of economic war”. He said, “It was to destroy tourism in Kashmir, which was the mainstay of the economy. What are the business people doing, who are doing numbers and lines and products and are very present.”
He said that there is a national consensus in India that “our behavior with Pakistan is bilateral”. “And in this particular case, I can tell you that I was in the room when the Vice President (JD) Vance spoke to the Prime Minister (Narendra) Modi on the night of 9 May, saying that Pakistanis attacked India extensively, if we don’t accept some things,” he said.
