What is Fastag Annual Pass Scheme that the Modi government is planning to launch? , Bharat News

Fastag Annual Pass, Fastag new rules: Fastag has revolutionized the electronic toll collection system in the country. This new initiative has helped to make toll operations more efficient, ensuring a comfortable and comfortable journey for the National Highway (NH) users. Now, the Modi government has decided to launch the Fastag annual pass plan for private vehicle owners.

What is Fastag Annual Pass Plan?

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (Morth) plans to introduce an annual pass for non-commercial cars, jeeps and vans. This new initiative will be applicable from August 15, 2025.

According to the Gazette notification, a person who owns a mechanical vehicle registered for a non-commercial purpose, is a valid and functional fastag, will be eligible to get a pass on payment of a fee of Rs 3000 which will be valid for one year or for two hundred crossings, via any fee plaza on a national highway, which is earlier, the fee for each fee, the fee for each fee.

In the written reply to the Rajya Sabha, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said that the annual pass will not apply to the state highways/expressways as they do not come under the jurisdiction of the central government.

“In a closed user fee collection system provided, the entry and exit of a mechanical vehicle through a fee plaza will be considered a single crossing. Annual pass applies to National Highway (NH) and National Expressway (NE) Fee Plaza,” he said.

The Union Minister also said that there is a hope of savings for vehicle owners. Gadkari said, “In addition to reducing the congestion in the fee plaza, the real savings for the vehicle owners and the government’s revenue growth will depend on several factors including vehicles and fee plaza crossings made in one year.”

Earlier this month, NHAI further strengthened its policy for toll collecting agencies and concessions.
