Indian Air Force head Air Force head Marshal AP Singh on Thursday flagged off the delay in purchase of important military platforms, emphasizing that any project that she could think that it has been completed on time.
Addressing the CII annual trade summit, Singh said that the deadline is a major issue. “So, this is something where we have to see, why should we do something that cannot be achieved?” He asked.
He said, “While signing the contract itself, we are sometimes sure it is not going to come up, but we just signed the contract, thinking that we will see what to do after that. Obviously, then, the process is determined,” he said.
In the context of Singh, the 83 Light Combat aircraft from Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) was pointed to delivery with a delay of Tejas MK1A, a contract for which was signed in 2021. The IAF has signed a contract with HAL for delivery of 70 HTT -40 basic trainer aircraft, which is to start on September.
Speaking about the criticism of Air Power, he said that no operation could be performed without it, and recently there was a testimony of Operation Sindoor.
“Our focus as far as air power is concerned, we need to ensure that we have capacity and ability. We can’t only talk about production in India, we need to start designing and development in India,” he said.
Emphasizing the trust between Singh and the industry and the need for an open and clear communication, Singh said that IAF is putting in maximum possible effort as as far as the Make in India program is concerned.

He said earlier, IAF was looking out more out, but the current situation made him realize that Atmanirbharta (self -sufficiency) was the only solution.
Singh said, “We have to be ready to be ready for the future now. It is a matter of concern,” while the Indian industry and defense research and development organization may be produced more in the next 10 years, today needs today.
He said that in order to achieve the prepared part in India, there should be some quick programs in India, while the design in India can continue the results in the future.
