A booth level officer (BLO) in Bihar’s Gaya district has been booked after a video, which is allegedly shown after taking money from a voter in exchange for processing a calculation form during the ongoing special intensive amendment (SIR) exercise in the state.
Gaya SSP Anand Kumar confirmed that a complaint was received about the incident in booth number 119 in Urdu Middle School, Nauranga in Manpur block on Sunday. Blo, against Gauri Shankar, under Section 17 and 223 of the Indian Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), with Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, which relates to punishment for bribery, which relates to punishment by public servant.
According to a complaint filed by Ruby Kumari, a video of Manpur’s Prasar Padadik (Women Extension Officer), Blow, Gauri Shankar, Urdu Middle School, Nauranga, an assistant teacher in Nauranga, was seen in a video engaged in cash transactions with a voter.
The video, which surfaced on Sunday, allegedly asked Shankar on the pretext of “tea and refreshments” to process the voter form and received money. The complainant said that “such conduct is in a clear violation of service norms”.
In a similar incident, Begusarai district administration has taken action against a BLO posted in Part 6 of Madrasa Fokania Nurpur (East) in 144 Matihani assembly constituency.
According to the district administration, information about a viral video was obtained in which a panchayat teacher, a blo, was seen sharing wrong and misleading information about the ongoing head practice on a private Hindi news channel.
Assistant Election Registration Officer (AERO) -Command -BDO, Barauni, and Election Registration Officer (ERO) -Command -Divisional Land Reforms Deputy Collector was directed to investigate the case.
