The BJP on Saturday completed the protests in Tripura, condemning the recent brutality in the ancestral home of Nobel Laoriet Rabindranath Tagore in Bangladesh.

In addition to the state capital, Agartala, protest rallies were held in Kailashar in Unakoti district, Raghana International Border Region in North Tripura district, Sonamura in Sephijala district and Belonia in South Tripura district.

The protesters were seen trying to break the barricades at some places; However, there was no report of any kind of struggle anywhere.

“We all know that the ancestral residence of Rabindranath Tagore in Sirjganj district in Bangladesh was brutally opposed and condemned against it … We never say that Rabindranath Tagore was a Hindu poet; he was Biswakabi.

A senior police officer at Unakoti said that adequate security was deployed at the rally in the district to maintain law and order.

Celebration offer

At a protest rally in Sonamura, former Union Minister Pratima Bhomik criticized Muhammad Yunus, the head of the interim government of Bangladesh.

Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Tinku Roy, who attended the protest rally in Belonia, said, “Such an incident (barbarity) will not be tolerated by the Government of India and the Government of Tripura. As part of the statewide protests, we hit the streets in Belonia.”

Meanwhile, Tipra Motha Party founder Pridot Kishore Manikya Debbarma wrote on his Facebook page, “We condemn the barbarity of Kabi Guru Rabindranath Tagore, home in Bangladesh. He not only wrote our national anthem, but some people for the present-day Bangladesh’s home!

A Tipra Motha delegation led by Forest Minister Animesh Debarma presented a memorandum to the Governor of Tripura on Saturday. In the memorandum, the BJP Alliance Partner urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to directly oversee the process of detection and exile of illegal migrants entering the state after March 24, 1971.

The party also demanded the location of illegal migrants and establishing a special central work force for exile.
