The 8 -year -old Namibian woman cheetah dies of injuries in the virgin. Bharat News

An eight -year -old Namibian woman cheetah named Naba died on Saturday in the Kuno National Park, which occurred a week after maintaining serious injuries during its soft release enclosure.

“Nabha was badly injured a week ago, perhaps during a hunting attempt inside her soft release bom.

Nabha was one of the cheetahs translated from Namibia under India’s major breeding initiative project Cheetah.

Cheetah was brought to Kunu in two phases – the first batch from Namibia in September 2022 and second from South Africa in February 2023.

With the death of Nabha, the cheetah population in Kuno is now 26 years old, including nine adult cheetahs (six females and three men) and 17 cubs born in India. Officials said that all the other cheetahs, including two men kept in Gandhisagar, are in good health.

Sharma said, “Currently, 16 cheetahs are living in the wild in the Kunu and they have adapted well for their new residence.

Two women cheetahs, Veera and Nirwa, have also recently given birth and are reported to have done well with their cubs.

A post -mortem report is awaited to determine the exact cause of Nabha’s death.
