India will play an important role globally, as there will be “inexplicably” changes in multilateralism in the world, Singapore’s Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan said on Sunday after interacting with external affairs minister S. Jaishankar.
Jaishankar also met President Tharaman Shanmugaratnam and Deputy PM Gan Kim Yong.
Singapore is on the “heart” of India’s prior policy, Jaishankar said after his meeting with Balkrishnan. From Singapore, he travels to China.
The India-Singapore relations were extended into a comprehensive strategic partnership during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the country in September last year. Balkrishnan said in a social media post, “The world has been converted into abundance, India will play an important role as one of these major poles of the occasion.”
Both sides also decided to organize the third India-Singapore minister’s roundateable soon in New Delhi. The Ministry of External Affairs said that the two sides reviewed the progress in the second round of India along with the progress of the results of Prime Minister Modi’s visit.

During Modi’s visit, India-Singapore relations as well as ministerial roundateable focus was to promote cooperation in investment, industrial parks, semiconductors, infrastructure, skill development and connectivity.
The ministry said that both sides also exchanged views on ASEAN (Association of Southst Asian nations), Indo-Pacific and global development.
