Ashwani Lohani, head of Air India, an Indian Railway Service, a 1980 batch Mechanical Engineering (IRSME), has been appointed as the Director of the Prime Minister’s Museum and Library (PMML) in New Delhi, which ended the months after the tenure of former Electricity Secretary Sanjeev Nandan Sahai. In the interim, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Culture, Lily Pandey was working in the role.
In an order on 4 June, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet approved Lohani’s appointment for a three -year term. They are expected to take assignments soon.
In addition to serving as the Chairman and Managing Director of Air India twice, Lohani has also worked as the Chairman of the Railway Board of Indian Railways after being appointed in the post in 2017. After retiring from government service, he joined the GMR group, where he served as the Chief Executive Officer.
Earlier, in 2001, he joined the India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) as Chairman and Managing Director. In 2004, he became the Commissioner and Managing Director of the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (MPTDC), a position he held for about six years, with three different conditions. They are credited with turning around ITDC and MPSTDC during those stents.
The Center recently reorganized the Society and Executive Council of PMML, adding several new names. The Executive Council, which had earlier 29 members, is now expanded up to 34 members.

While former Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, NRPndra Mishra was re -appointed as the president of the organization for a five -year tenure, the prominent new members were among the former Union Minister Smriti Irani, former Vice President of Neeti Anyog, Rajiv Kumar, who according to the Army General Syed Ata Hasanan, according to Vasudava, Vasud,, the Ministry of Culture.
Some of the other new members include the Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Council member Sanjeev Sanyal and educationist Chamu Krishna Shutri, archaeologist KK Mohammad, who were part of the Babri Masjid excavation team in 1976, and former head of the National Museum, BR Mani.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the President of the PMML Society, and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh is the vice president. As Director, Lohani will also become a member of the seven-member Executive Council of the organization, which was chaired by Chairman NRPndra Mishra.
