The Kerala government on Monday announced a public holiday and three -day mourning on Tuesday after the death of former Chief Minister and Communist Stalwart vs. Achuthanandan.
Achuthanandan, who is widely known as vs., was said to be his home district Alappuzha, CPI (M) State Secretary MV Govindan on Wednesday. This is the same basis where Pannapra-Vyar was killed during the rebellion, in which VS participated, he was also kept for rest.
On Monday, his remains will be kept before being taken to their homes at the former state headquarters of the party, AKG Study Center, Thiruvananthapuram. Later the remains will be taken to the Durbar Hall in the State Secretariat for public tribute. On Tuesday afternoon, the remains will be taken to Alappuzha before cremation on Wednesday.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that VS’s death marked the end of an era. “His death is a disadvantage to the party and the state. His life was a remarkable chapter in the revolutionary movement along with the history of Kerala. He has been a symbol of conflict, unnatural determination and feeling of uncontrolled fight. Politics,” said Vijayan.
Kerala Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar said that VS was a huge person in Indian politics. The governor said, “He was playing an important role in shaping the party’s direction at Kerala and national level. As Chief Minister, he earned praise for his firm works against land encroachments, promoting public education, anti -corruption measures and environmental protection.”

Congress opposition leader VD Satheson said that VS has given a new view to opposition politics in Kerala. He was at the forefront of many movements and became the Chief Minister after winning collective support as an opposition leader, Satheson remembered.
