Tripura Transport Minister Sushant Chaudhary on Tuesday announced a color code for autorickshaws within Aatartala Municipal Corporan to curb the root permit violation and reduce the traffic congestion.
Talking to the media at the Civil Secretariat, Chaudhary said that all the autorickshaws allowed to operate within the AMC boundaries should add a pink shade to the vehicles for identification purposes. Chaudhary said that autorickshaws from outside will not be allowed to ply within the AMC limit unless for the Emergency, Chaudhary said.
“The decision was taken to separate the autoricashovs within the AMC from the autorickshaws of other subdivisions. In this case, the pink color should be added to the front side of the autorickshaw within the AMC, while the colors of the autorix will remain unchanged outside the AMC”, which is also done by portfolios.
Passengers in autorickshaws from outside the AMC border require the proper documents to enter the city in case of emergency, such as medical emergency or transport of air travelers, the minister said. He said that AutorickShaw owners would have to show their path permits, and no one will be allowed to violate this rule. Otherwise, strict legal action will be taken against them, he said.
Chaudhary said that he saw some private vehicles being used for commercial purposes without essential commercial licenses. He urged the vehicle owners to obtain licenses for commercial purposes as soon as possible if they want to continue using them.
“It has come to our attention that some private vehicles are being used to transport the school students and office staff without essential commercial licenses. This pose a safety risk for school children. Therefore, school officials will only be noticeable to allow vehicles that have commercial licenses,” Chaudhary said.
