Gujarat, Ahmedabad aircraft accident today live news updates: An Air India Boeing 787 Dreamliner (VT-ANB), working from Ahmedabad to the London Gatwick Airport crashed immediately after the takeoff from Thursday afternoon, with 242 people on board, including two pilots and 10 cabin cruc members. 169 Indians, 53 British citizens, seven Portuguese and one on Canadian National Board.
What has Air India said? A statement issued by Air India said, “Flight AI171, Ahmedabad-London Gatwick’s operations were involved in an incident today. At this time, we are detecting details and shares further updates as soon as possible.” Air India has also set up a dedicated passenger hotline number, 1800 5691 444 to provide more information.
What is the Current Status? Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport (SVPIA) in Ahmedabad has been closed till next notice. State officials said the accident occurred about nine minutes after the aircraft was approved for takeoff. According to officials on the occasion, dense smoke gave a challenge to save operations, which are still running.
