Beef is being made 'weapons' against Hindus; Assamese people should take a 'non-surrendered stand': CM Sarma | Bharat News

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday alleged that beef against Hindus in the state was being “weapons”, cited examples of pieces of meat pieces in public places after Eid celebration last week.

Emphasizing that Assamese people have to take a “non-fighter” stance to push illegal foreigners back, he said that Assam was struggling against the forces that had “sympathy” worldwide.

Addressing a press conference in the BJP state office, Sarma said, “Earlier, if a couple of Muslim families lived in a Hindu neighborhood, they would be careful that they would not create any problem for Hindus. If they wanted beef, they will go to the people living in Muslim-intelligence areas.”

“But now, it has become such that they will throw the remaining and ruin all around so that Hindus in the neighborhood eventually have to leave the place,” he said.

He cited examples of beef at various places after Eid last week, which included in front of Cotton University here.

Celebration offer

Sarma said, “Someone may have in Eid, but it cannot be made weapons against other people.”

He said that no protests were held against the Act and said that the number of voices opposing such incidents is decreasing.

He said, “Good Muslims oppose such acts. They do not post photos holding beef on Facebook,” he said that they get only three phone calls from Muslim persons after these incidents, saying that they do not approve it.

The Chief Minister expressed apprehension that if things go on now, “In 20 years, beef will be thrown in front of Kamakhya Temple”.

While the police have a role in stopping such incidents, the support of the people behind the force is necessary to take decisive steps, Sarma said.

He said that the Assamese people have to take a “non-non-regulatory stance” to protect themselves and the government with Prime Minister Narendra Modi was ready to provide all its help.

“Modi ji is saying that push back (illegal foreigners), but Assamese people are questioning why push back. Most criticism of push back is coming from Assamese people … Modi ji cannot protect us alone,” he said.

He claimed that all foreigners were sent away from Gujarat by PM Modi and not a single single court, while in Assam, daily cases are filed against the action against illegal migrants by Assamia petitioners and lawyers.

Sarma said that Congress and its legislative party chief Debabrata Saikia had opposed the push of foreigners in the assembly on Monday, but no organization has opposed their stand or media, criticized the party for this.

He also quoted Saikia in the assembly and quoted that PM Jawaharlal Nehru opposed the immigrants (expulsion from Assam) Act in 1950, which gives the district commissioners the right to identify and remove foreigners. He said, “It shows that Nehru’s Pro-Freight Stance was since 1950,” he said.
