While Bihar has constructed thousands of kilometers of roads in the last decade and has allocated more than Rs 3 lakh crore in its 2025-26 state budget, it is a new stretch in Jahnaabad for all wrong reasons.
There are many fully developed trees in the middle of Patna-Gaon Road in Junabad district, which was widen as part of the Rs 100 crore project.
Many people took on social media, putting road photos and videos, and commenting on the danger that trees present in the middle. Trees, many posts said, are not even in a straight line, but are scattered across the road, causing vehicles growing rapidly through the road in a zig-zag manner.
Jehanabad District Magistrate Alnakrita Pandey told The Indian Express That the road was recently confirmed and “no accident has happened” on the stretch so far.
He said that the issue was born during the expansion of the existing Patna-Daan road. He clarified that especially the Flanc where the new road was constructed, “the forest passes through the land”. According to the administration, approval was sought from the officials concerned to remove trees. However, they proceeded with the agency roadwork responsible for construction, before receiving Saud, before receiving the necessary approval.
The DM said, “Where the road has been built, it is on the Flank forest land. An approval was sought, but in the meantime, the agency responsible for the construction of the road went ahead with the construction, violating the conditions,” the DM said.
He said that taking cognizance of the violation, the district administration has registered an FIR against the construction agency.
