“The demolitions started two days after the notice was given, which is not enough time to collect and arrange all our goods. We had a firm house here. Children have examinations in a few days. They are now in terror, and I am very worried about their future. We were not even after demolishing our house. We were not even a rehabilitation system for us, we are completely landless people.

All Assam Minority Students Union (AAMSU) leaders reached the site on Monday afternoon. Amasu President Rageul Karim Sarkar also said that there should have been a proper rehabilitation scheme.

“The Supreme Court has already given guidelines that people cannot be evicted in this way without rehabilitation. If they are given notice one day and Bulldozers operate The next day, people will not be able to collect and leave all their belongings. All these people are from Golpara, who have been living here for 50-60 years after being affected by river erosion in river areas. The first responsibility of the government was to come with him with a rehabilitation plan or give them some time, “he said.
