Prior to the Supreme Court hearing of the case, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday to intervene in the case of Indian nurse Nimisha Priya, which has been executed in Yemen on Wednesday (July 16).
In a letter to the PM, CM Vijayan urged him to “raise the case” and intervened with the officials concerned to save the woman’s life.
Sharing the letter on X, Vijayan said: “Honorable PM Shri Narendra Modi ji urged immediate intervention to secure the release of Nimish Priya, who is imprisoned in Yemen. The Kerala government stands firmly with all those who are working towards his outflow and safe return.”

Why is Nimish Priya facing execution?
Indian original nurse Nimisha Priya has been convicted of killing Yamani citizen Talal Abdo Mehdi.
According to government sources, Nimisha was convicted for the crime of murder in Yemen in June 2018, and was sentenced to death by a local court.

Nimisha, a native of Kerala, worked as a nurse in Yemen for many years until he was accused of murder in 2017.
