Police in Mho district of Madhya Pradesh on Sunday said that they were investigating the allegations that the body of a newborn was mutated by a stray dog in a government hospital.
In -charge of the hospital, Dr. HR Verma said that a postmortem was conducted, and a preliminary report suggested that the newborn was given prematurely to the newborn.
Hospital officials claimed that there was a possibility of a stilming in the bathroom of the newborn hospital. Verma said that a teenager, who was admitted to the hospital with a complaint of abdominal pain on Friday morning, was seen entering the bathroom and later leaving the hospital.
Officials said that the stray dog had taken the body from the bathroom before he was recovered by a security guard.
“We operated the postmortem on Saturday morning, and awaited its report. A preliminary report said the delivery was prematurely. The body is kept in Morchari. Police have started investigating the incident, and we will all provide CCTV footage.”

In -charge Rahul Sharma at MHOW Police Station said, “Hospital officials have given CCTV footage to the girl at the time of admission (teenager) girl.”
Hospital officials admitted that all three hospital doors were opened at night, which possibly allow stray dogs to enter, especially through a gate near the storeroom. Dr. Verma said, “There was some negligence from the guards. We have ordered all the gates to be closed at night and posted at the main entrance to monitor the movement and prevent animals from entering.”
