The nineteen vehicles of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav broke after being filled with contaminated diesel late on Thursday night.
The incident occurred when the convoy stopped at a petrol pump to fill the fuel, unaware that the fuel was being removed, it was allegedly mixed with water. The petrol pump was later sealed.
Some vehicles managed to leave the fuel station, but stopped on the highway shortly after, while others could not go through the pump.
CM Yadav is in Ratlam for the termination of a regional industry skills and development. 19 vehicles were considered part of Yadav’s convoy on Friday.
Shubam Parmar, a driver of the convoy, told the local media that the vehicles were on their way from Indore for the Chief Minister’s program on Friday. “We came from Indore and got down at a petrol pump and filled the fuel. The first some vehicles to leave the petrol pump stopped on the highway, but others stopped at the petrol pump.”
The driver said that when he examined the fuel, he found that it was mixed with water, after which the local authorities were alerted.
Local Nib Tehsildar, Ashish Upadhyay said that an investigation was going on. Upadhyay had also questioned the petrol pump authorities, who suspected that the diesel tanks must have been filled with rain water in the last few days, causing contamination. Authorities have sealed the petrol pump and are trying to track the owner of the installation.
