The Youth Wing of Tipra Motha Party called for the shutdown of all government offices in Gomti district on Saturday, June 2, in the beginning of this week, Tipra Motha founder Prideot Kishore Deberma to protest against the alleged refusal of District Magistrate Tarit Kanti Chakma to meet Kishore Debarma.
“As we have announced to go on a strike earlier, if the state government does not take any action in this regard, we are going to the shutdown of all offices in Gomti district on June 2. If we are not given any assurance after that, our strike can also expand for other districts in the coming days,” Surge Debaburma, Youth Tipra Federation said.
When reminiscent of the Chief Minister’s assurance to take steps about the Chief Minister’s issue, Suraj Deberma said, “DM (Gomti K) refused to meet him (Pradyot Kishore) and even did not respond to his call. We gave four days (from May 26), but the government is not doing anything. We cannot sit silent.”
A delegation of Tipra Motha leaders had earlier met the Chief Minister to discuss the issue.
After the said meeting, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha commented, “I was in Delhi when the founder of Tipra Motha called me and made me aware of the incident. He told me that it was not a complaint and he was just informing me … I ask about that day to tell about a communication gap.
Jitendra Chaudhary, Tripura opposition leader and member of CPI (M) Polit Bureau, called the episode “unacceptable” and said in a social media post, “DM Gomti’s behavior with two public representatives is not all acceptable and condemnable. A public servant and insult to duties as a public servant and cherry prank.”
The Congress also criticized the works of Gomti District Magistrate. “Pradiyot Kishore and other Gomti went to meet DM. He was not even enhanced by etiquette to sit, and a security guard informed them that the DM would not meet him. This is a highly inappropriate task. The political representative often has to meet the DM because he can get the district administration, but anyone can get it, the Kishore Manikya Debaberma was returned …” Had said earlier.
