There was an encounter between the police in Bhojpur district in the early hours of Tuesday and three people were suspected to be involved in the murder of Chandan Mishra at Paras Hospital in Patna. Police said two of the three were injured and undergoing treatment, while the third was arrested.
The Bihar police said the encounter took place at around 5 pm along the Katiya Road under the boundary of the Bihia police station when a joint team of the Special Task Force (STF) and the local police identified three armed persons and ordered them to surrender, said Bihar Police.
“The suspects responded to opening the fire, inspired by the police to retaliate. In the exchange, two of the two accused, Balwant Kumar Singh and Raviranjan Kumar Singh, continuous bullet injuries.
Police said that they also recovered two pistols, one country-made guns, two magazines and four live cartridges from the spot.
“During the initial inquiry, the arrested persons admitted to Paras Hospital in Patna for their participation in the murder of Chandan Mishra on 17 July,” police said.

Earlier, in a coordinated operation supported by the Kolkata Police, four other accused, including the chief shooter Tusaf Bashsh, were arrested on Sunday from a guest house, about 280 meters from Anandpur police station in Kolkata. He was brought to Patna on Monday after the Alipore Court provided a two -day transit remand to the Bihar Police in Kolkata.
After medical examinations, all were presented before a court in Patna on Monday. “While the three accused were sent to judicial custody, Patna Police received remand for Tausif for three days,” said a Patna official.

Patna SSP Karthikeya Sharma said that the remand period for Tusif begins on Tuesday, which is as part of the purpose of investigating the case and the motor behind the murder and the efforts to establish the network.
“During the investigation, it was discovered that Tausif and other suspects gathered at his cousin Nishu Khan’s house, where he had allegedly planned to execute. After the incident, Nishu Khan (who is physically disabled) ran into his vehicle with Tausif and his carers.”
The official said that both Tushef and Nishu have previous criminal records, with Tusheff’s cases under the NDPS Act, the Arms Act, and the murder and Nishu have been attempted in matters related to forced recovery and arms Act. Tauseeef had earlier spent time in jail under the Arms Act and was released on bail in 2024. Nishu was shot at a personal dispute around 2023 and was hurt on his backbone.
A police source said that after being admitted to laparoscopic surgery on July 15, a Parlade criminal from Buxar, was shot dead at Paras Hospital in Patna on 17 July at Paras Hospital in Patna.

Mishra’s father, in his police complaint, identified in the news “Tushef Badshah alias Nasim, Balwant Singh and Monu Singh” through video footage aired in the news as three of the five shooters from Baksar.
Sources said that Chandan had more than 24 criminal cases against him, and a preliminary inquiry suggested that the attack was carried out by his former friend-fund Sheru Singh. Police said a clear picture of the connection, execution and purpose between the attack would come after interrogation of the suspects.
Till now the police investigation has revealed that nine people were directly involved in the shooting. “In addition, others provided weapons and helped with the reconnaissance,” an official said.
