India successfully tested Estra beyond the SU-30 MK-I aircraft from the coast of Odisha on Friday, performing their indigenous defense capabilities beyond the visual air-to-air missile. Officials said the missile has a range of more than 100 km and is equipped with state -of -the -art guidance and navigation system.
The Ministry of Defense said, “Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) and Indian Air Force (IAF) successfully operated the flight-testing of Beyond Swadeshi from the SU-30 MK-I platform with indigenous radio frequency seekers with a visual range air-to-air missile ‘Estra’.” The two launches were made against high -speed unmanned air goals in various range, target aspects and launch platform situations.
The ministry said in a statement, “In both cases, the missiles destroyed the goals with pin-point accuracy.” It said that all sub -casmistum radio frequency was demonstrated as expected, including the seeker which were designed and developed by DRDO.
“Innocent performance of the Estra Weapon System was valid through flight data captured by Range tracking devices deployed by the integrated test range, Chandipur,” it said.
