The Chhattisgarh Police has arrested a serving Congress leader and a former-MLA for allegedly commenting “objectionable” about Prime Minister Narendra Modi on social media.
The arrested people have been identified as Arun Tiwari, who was earlier a 67-year-old former Congress associated with the Congress, and Brijmohan Singh, a current Congress leader in the Durg district. The arrest has been made in two separate cases.
In the first case, Tiwari, a former MLA from Sipat in undivided Madhya Pradesh, was arrested on social media to comment “objectionable” about Jashodaben, the wife’s wife, while speaking about ‘Operation Sindoor’. Tiwari, who is no longer with the Congress, was booked under Section 296 (Porn Act) and 352 (deliberate insult) of the Indian Judication on June 2.
A police officer said, “Tiwari was produced before a magistrate court on Wednesday and was sent to judicial custody. He would remain in jail until he will be granted bail,” a police officer said.
In a similar but unrelated case, Congress leader Brijmohan Singh was arrested under Section 296 (Porn Act) and 353 (public mischief) of BNS to post “derogatory comments” on Modi on social media. He has been sent to judicial custody.

Reacting to the arrest, Communications chief for the Congress in Chhattisgarh, Sushil Anand Shukla said: “Arun Tiwari is no longer with the Congress party. Brijmohan ji is a good leader and I am not sure that he can use such words.
The development took place after less than a month of Operation Sindoor-India-occupied Kashmir and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and Pakistan, who were retained in India, were killed on April 22, in which 26 people were killed, including residents of Raipur in Chhattisgarh.
