A former Bharatiya Janata Party woman Morcha District President and her partner have been arrested for allegedly orchestrated the gang rape of their minor daughter, police said.

According to a complaint filed by the child’s father on Wednesday, the mother took the minor in January on the pretext of an outing, as well as his partner and another suspect, who is absconding. At the BHEL Stadium, the men allegedly consumed alcohol and allegedly threatened and raped the girl, with the woman’s consent. He was then taken to hotels in Agra, Vrindavan and Haridwar, where sexual harassment continued several times. Police said the victim was reportedly told that she would be killed if she reveals misconduct.

According to the complaint, the mother was allegedly present on all occasions when her daughter was raped by the accused. Police said the woman was also running a hotel on lease in Haridwar.

Based on the complaint, an FIR was lodged in Kotwali Ranipur for gang rape and criminal intimidation of the Joint Code (BNS), and there were provisions for protection of children from the Sexual Offenses Act.

The medical examination of the child was conducted after which both the accused were arrested from the Hotel Yug Residency near Shiv Murti Chowk.

SSP Haridwar Parmendra Dabal said that the allegations in the medical examination were confirmed.

The complainant’s wife separated from him after a domestic dispute two years ago. The child came to live with his father for a month when he saw his changed behavior. He allegedly inspired the police to contact the police recently. The victim’s statements have been recorded before the magistrate and the police is searching for the third accused who is currently absconding.

According to the BJP unit in Haridwar, the accused woman was relieved from her duties in August last year and on Wednesday, after her arrest, the BJP president of the district unit said she had been expelled with immediate effect from the party. Congress spokesperson Surya Kant Dhasamna said that the case has highlighted the reality behind the very postponed slogans of the BJP, such as “Chal, Charitra, Face” (conduct, character and identity) and “Biti Bachao, Bt Deado” (Save the daughter, educate the daughter).
