The bridge collapses in India: The bridge collapses – whether under construction or fully built – unfortunately not uncommon in India. In the first six months of 2025 alone, many major bridges have collapsed across the country. Last year, about 12 bridges in Bihar collapsed within just 20 days. The exact reasons behind these incidents are not clear – whether due to poor maintenance, low construction materials, or other structural issues.

Gambira Bridge in Vadodara
On 9 July, a total of nine persons, including a child, were killed and several others were rescued in Vadodara district of Gujarat after a part of a four -decade -old bridge. According to PTI, a slab of the Gambhira bridge located on the Mahisagar river, which connects Central Gujarat to the state’s Saurashtra region, collapsed. According to reports, the bridge was constructed in 1985, and its maintenance was from time to time and when necessary.
Indryani river bridge collapse in Pune
On June 15, four persons were killed and 18 others were seriously injured, when an old iron pedestrian bridge over the Indraini river collapsed near Pune. The incident took place in the Kundamla area at 3:30 pm, heavy rains have been seen in the last few days and it is a popular tourist place.
Bullet train gentry in Ahmedabad
On March 23, a huge gentry, which used to install concrete girders between columns on the bullet train line, slipped from its place during retreat, which collapsed. The National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) said, “One of the segment launching gantry used for the construction of Viadcts in Watwa (near Ahmedabad) was retreating after completing the concrete girder. It was accidentally skiding its position. It has affected the nearby railway line in the surrounding area.”
