IMD issue 13 flash flood alerts for Jharkhand districts, predictive of heavy rains. Bharat News

An official said that the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday issued a flash flood warning for 13 Jharkhand districts amidst prediction of heavy rains in some parts of the state.

IMD has issued a warning for Bokaro, East Singhbham, Giridih, Gumla, Khanti, Lathar, Lohardga, Palamu, Ramgarh, Ranchi, Saraikela, Simdega and West Singhbhum districts till 5.30 pm on Tuesday.

IMD said in its bulletin, “Surface runoff and flood can occur in a completely saturated soil and low-level areas.”

The IMD official said that a ‘Orange’ alert for very heavy rainfall has been released in some parts of Jharkhand till 17 July.

The IMD said that alert is being received for Gumla, Simdega, Khanti and West Singhbham districts, which is likely to experience torrential rains between 8.30 am on Tuesday between 8.30 am on Tuesday between 8.30 am.

Palamu, Lathar, Garhwa and Hazaribagh can experience very heavy rainfall between 8.30 am on Tuesday and between 8.30 am on 16 July, while Palamu, Chatra, Koderma, Hazribagh and Giridih can experience similar rainfall between 8.30 am on July 16 at 8.30 am.

On Monday, a ‘yellow’ warning has been given for six Jharkhand districts including Ranchi for heavy rainfall.

Abhishek Anand, Deputy Director of Ranchi Meteorological Center, said that rain will be due to a cyclonic circulation and trough.

He said that Jharkhand has recorded 61 percent surplus rainfall between June 1 and July 13.

The Eastern state received 510 mm of rainfall during the period of 316.7 mm during the period.
